Nellie Bly embarked on an ambitious journey to travel around the world in just 72 days, determined to surpass the fictional record of Phileas Fogg’s 80 days. Her quest was fueled by the desire to challenge societal perceptions of women as weaker.

She almost missed her boat, the Victoria. Luckily, it was still in port so she traveled without a delay.

Then, she mde it back to San Francisco, CA. However, there was a very large snowstorm blocking her path to Jersey City, NJ. However, she traveled on a special train hired by the World.
Then she became very famous and was no longer underestimated like most women were in that time.
She traveled from Hoboken, New Jersey to Southampton, England then to Amiens, France then to Brindisi, Italy then to the Suez Canal, Aden, Yemen, then Colombo, Ceylon now known as Sri Lanka. Then she traveled to Singapore, then to Hong Kong. Then finally Yokahama, Japan.

Nellie Bly wanted to go around the world in 72 days even though Phileas Fogg, a fictional character went around in 80 days.

There were some delays, and Nellie had to get over her seasickness.
She wanted to go espcially because women were consitered weaker.
She said she'd rather return "dead than alive and behind time".

Nellie Bly was no longer an underestimated girl because she traveled the world in 72 days and six hours

The Amercian girl will no longer be misunderstood declared the mayor of NY.
She was famous all over the world for her feat.
She had her face on many mass-produced items because she was famous.
