The Subarctic peoples relied on various methods of transportation depending on the season. During the summer, they used canoes covered in lightweight birchbark, while in winter, they utilized toboggans made from caribou or moose skin to carry heavy loads.

Shelter

The homes were very easy to take from one place to another.
The Subartic people lived in small groups of related familes. Their homes were in the shape of domed shaped tents.

Food

Food was stored in the summer for the cold months, and the men still had to hunt for food during winter.
The women cooked meat and fish in birchbark or caribou skin containers.

Transportation

Most traveing was by foot. In the winter toboggans were used to carry heavy things. Toboggans were made out of caribou or moose skin.
Caneos covered with lightweight weight birchbark were used to travel with in the summer time.

Moose skin was usally used to make moccasins because of its thick and hard matreial.
In the east Subartic the people wore a knee length shirt, breechlout, leggings and moccasins.
