Angle pair relationships

In geometry, angle pair relationships are crucial when analyzing the interactions between parallel lines and a transversal. Alternate exterior angles occur on opposite sides of the transversal outside the parallel lines and are congruent.

Angle pair relationships

Consecutive interior

They are supplementary
they are one the same side of the transversal
Angles that are inside the parallel lines
the pairs of angles that are between two lines and on the same side of the line cutting through the two lines

Alt. Exterior

if two lines are parallel, their alternate exterior angles will be the same degree
Angles that are outside of the parallel lines
on the opposite sides of the transversal

Corresponding

Corresponding angles are always formed in pairs and are congruent.
angles are in the same spot but different line
These angles are located on the same side of the transversal in corresponding positions.
formed when a transversal intersects two parallel lines

Consecutive exterior

\
Two angles in different groups, outside the parallel lines and are on the same side of the transversal
These angles are supplementary
they are on the same side of the transversal that intersects them
a pair of angles that are located on the outside of two parallel lines,

Alt. Interior

they form when a transversal passes through two parallel lines
they are one opposite sides of the transversal
they are congruent
These angles are inside the parallel lines
