The federal parliament has enacted the Copyright Act 1968, which acknowledges the creator's ownership of their original works and grants them control over its distribution and reproduction.

- Made by federal parliament - It applies to Australian Government and its agencies, business with > $3 million revenue, private health providers (hospital gym, childcare and school)

- Made by federal parliament - Recognises that any original work is the property of the person who created it - The creator decides how it is distributed and/or reproduced - You cannot use/share copyrighted material without permission - Cannot use devices to bypass Digital Rights Management (DRM) - You can transfer media to other formats (CD -> MP3) for personal use - Record TV/Radio for personal use - 'Fair use' for education, review and satire
