It is a city which is small

Regional city


It is a term in use since about 1950 by urbanists, economists and urban planners to mean a metropolitan area and hinterland, often having a shared administration. 

National city


It is the municipality exercising primary status in a country, state, province, or other region, usually as its seat of government.

Global city


It is a city generally considered to be an important node in the global economic system.

Megacity


It is a metropolitan area with a total population in excess of ten million people.

Urban region


It is a human settlement with high population density and infrastructure of built environment.

Metrapolitan area


It is a region consisting of a densely populated urban core and its less-populated surrounding territories, sharing industry, infrastructure, and housing.
