Marjane- forced into isolation due to the violent events occuring around her.

Isolation

Will Eisners story is fiction, in contrast to Marjanes non-fictional story. The story consists of several characters who move away from society for the majority of their lives. The moral of the story is that one is nothing without having relationships and cannot live in the world through isolation. One must understand that it is impossible to get through society only by ourselves, all individuals require help.

Marjanes story is based on her own personal experiences as a child in Iran. The moral of the story is that life does not always go in ones favour and that the events that occur around us is out of ones control.

The Message

The characters in invisible people are free to follow any religion they want. Many characters, however are not religious and do not depend on an spiritual figure, such as, God for gudiance.

The Iran culture is very religious, the Iranians are forced to follow strict guidelines. For example, all women must wear a viel.

When contrasting Marjanes Satrapi's graphic novel Persepolis and Will Eisner's Invisible people characters live in isolation and must overcome the adversity of losing hope, due to the violence occurring around them.

Thesis

The use of black and white demonstrates many characters are dealing with similar circumstances. For example in this picture the young Muslim girls look practically the same as they all are have religeous rules enforced upon them.

Herman: The use of black and white illustrates the characters feeling of terror and allows the reader to picture the aspect violence in this moment.

Author uses black and white to illusrate the despair and depressed mood that characters are in.

Marjane: The use of black and white illustrates her life. Her life is very difficult and dark as it is filled with horror. The use of black and white also helps depict the character in a metaphorical sense as her emotions to the reader are clear in every event that she experiences.

Hilda and Herman's mother die in a hospital fire.

Marjanes uncle Taher Dies due to a heart attack.

Marjanes parents lose their only daughter.

Morris loses shelter and an occupation.

Both characters must overcome the adversity of losing something.

Marjanes Parents appear to be happy when they send her off to a better life to Vienna, but in reality her parents are devestated that they might not see their daughter again.

Morris appears to have some hope in life when he is in love with a women, but in reality he ends up how he started, alone.

The muslim school Marjane goes to is very strict, and she eventually gets expelled because she does follow the rules of being a Muslim women.

For example, Hilda chooses to take care of her sick father for several years instead of having human contact with others in society.

All characters opress themselves as they choose to move away from human contact and be alone or to only maintain very personal relationships.

Young Muslim children are opressed due to their relgion and are forced to follow harsh regulations.
