Teachers

Mr. Zuech

He impacts the issue because he gave my group an idea of what we could add to our project to make it better, while he was talking to me. His idea was to make advertisements so that we can gather more volunteers to helps us out with the projects and help spread the idea.

Mr. Zuech was a supply teacher for my IDC class, but only for half the class. He went around to all the different groups to give them feedback on their projects

Ms. Armstrong

Ms. Armstrong impacts the issue because she gives support to my other group members since they do not have access to talking to Ms Sidhu. She gives them connections and organizations they can use to help our issue. She also gave us feedback from the MVP pitch on how we can improve our project?

Ms. Armstrong is an IDC teacher at Jean Augustine Secondary School. She assigned tasks to my group members which they would apply to the project to make it better

Ms. SIdhu

Mr. Li
How does he impact the issue?

Mr. Li's role in our project is very important. He allowed us to plant in the courtyard of the hospitality room. This lets us be closer to school so we can work easily whereas in our original plan, we were going to go around the city and plant trees. He was excited about our plan because it would benefit the environment and its something hes been wanting to do for a while.

Organizations

Royal York Hotel

The Fairmont Royal York Hotel impacts the issue because they support saving the bees. They have their own bee garden in the hotel which is located on the rooftop. The fairmont hotels and resorts have been dedicated to protecting the environment for over 25 years. My group will go there sometime during the semester to look at their bee garden and take notes so we can improve ours.

Burt's Bees

The funds they raise also go towards the research and education of honey bees

Funds can also be used for breeding honey bees, increasing the population of them and help take them off the endangered list.

Their company raises awareness of how important honey bees are

Raise awareness about bees by sponsoring the British beekeepers association's adopt a beehive.

Burts Bees is an organizations that create all natural beauty products out of wax from beehives. Burt was a beekeeper who was sold honey but then one day he met Roanne Quimby. That was when they got the idea to make beauty products from beehive wax. Since then Burt's Bees is known for their beauty products, especially their lip balm.

Impacts

Hospitality Classes

For our project we will not only be planting flowers, but a variety of fruits and vegetables too. The hospitality class will be able to use them for cooking. At time when my group is not available to keep the garden up to point, they will be there to water it, or cut off dry leaves to make room for more buds.

The hospitality classes at Jean Augustine is is run by Mr li. They use resources that he and the school provide for them to make healthy, full course meals. They make the meals to give to the food bank and make an impact on their lives.

Bees
How do they impact the issue?

Bees impact the issue because it is all about them. They have an important influence on the production of food. Almost every bite we take is possible because of bee pollinators. When we plant flowers, fruits and vegetables we will be aiding the bees to give them more plants to pollinate with and attract the bees around one area so they can reproduce, creating more, taking them out of the endangered category.

What do they do?

Honey Bees collect pollen from plants and transfer it to other plants. By doing this it helps the plants grow. They take some of the pollen back to the colony with them and make honey for humans.
