The immune system is a crucial defense mechanism that protects the body from harmful pathogens and antigens. It employs two main strategies: innate and acquired responses. The innate response acts quickly and generally, offering immediate defense, while the acquired response is slower but highly specific, producing antibodies tailored to neutralize particular invaders.

Animal Bite

Being bitten by an animal carrying the rabies virus

Eating foods, such as egg and meat that are infected by Salmonella bacteria

Being near someone that is sick and that could be contagious

Direct Contact

Shaking hands, sharing drinks, sharing bodily fluids with an infected person

Two Lines of Immune Defense:

Second line of defence has two parts Innate and Acquired.
First line is the skin and the linings of the bodies internal systems.

Infectious diseases are caused by germs called pathogens.

The Immune System attacks and destroys invaders like pathogens and antigens that enter the body.
