exploration of mars
ecology
connection 1: mars has different SPHERE . although its unknown if mars has a functioning BIOSPHERE we do know that it has all the basic components to the HYDROSPHERE and ATMOSPHERE mars has air, water and ice.
although it is all ice now it is speculated that mars did indeed have water in the past. meaning it had a functioning hydrosphere
connection 2: temperature. even though mars may look hot its actually pretty cold. mars has a tone of carbon dioxide and is a little further from the sun so it get cold. the mars exploration rovers can not function in extreme cold similar to humans so the weather can actually effect the ability of the rover.
natural ECOSYSTEMES on mars are pretty much non existent between the toxic soil and the extreme temperaturs.
connection 3: life? the exploration of mars has recently begun to focus on finding out weather life used to live on mars or not. if it is possible for like to still exist. searching for BIOSIGNATURES.
BIOTOC factors, there are no proven BIOTIC factors on mars to this day.
connection 4: soil. mars soil does not have ORGANIC soil due to the fact that there are no living things on the planet. through the use of rovers scientist are able to study the soil and find that its actually toxic to humans. martian soil has "high concentration of perchlorate compounds containing chlorine.
if humans were ever to farm on mars we would need to create our own clean soil.
astronomy
connection 1: planets. mars is one of the most explored planets (besides earth) it can have a functional (man made) environment for humans and is also earths sister planet.
mars is one of the four TERESTRIAL planets
connection 2: atmosphere the atmosphere of mars is 100 times thinner than that of earth making it impossible to breath on the planet. to solve this problem astronautes bring there own oxygen simular to that of a fire fighter.
Canada has maximized there investments into the EXSPLORATION of mars.
mars is actually the forth plane closest to the sun. mars only has 37% of earths GRAVITY.
you are actually able to see constallations from mars using the NAKED EYE.
conection 3:mars has TWO moons. Phobos and demios. fun fact the moons of mars are not circle. they are the closest moons to a planet and phobos can circle around mars 3 times in one day. demios takes 30 hours to make one round.
mars ORBITS the sun once every 1.88 earth years.
electricity
connection 1: powering the rovers. over the years humans have explored mars in many different ways. each containing traces of electricity. more specifically the mars exploration rover. each rover carries two 8-amp- hour lithium battery. these helped the rovers function at night.
batteries can run out faster if more of their ENERGY is needed.
connection 2: solar power. solar power! a lot of the robots that landed on mars used solar power to function. they would produce 900 watt-hour of solar energy that kept them functioning during the day.
solar power is a form of charging by INDUCTION
connection 3: mars main power source. MMRTG is mars source of electricity. MMRTG is a generator developed by NASA that converts the natural heat from the "radio active decay" of plutonium on mars into electricity.
the MMRTG generator makes around 2400 WATTS of thermal power.
connection 4: sati-lights. space crafts can also take pictures of mars from afar and thats how you end up with the ball view of mars. what happens when a space craft runs out of energy? thats when sat-alights come in. sat-alights are close enough to the sun that they can take the suns energy and use it to charge up the space crafts.
solar panel's are wired in a SERIES circuit in order to get enough charge.
