2. Hobbies

Rock climbing

The activity of climbing the side of a mountain or large rock for enjoyment, usually using ropes and other equipment. Rock climbing is often simply called climbing.
Ex: Rock climbing is a adventure sport.

Cycling

The sport or activity of riding bicycle.
Ex: Maria loves cycling everyday.

Skateboarding

The sport or activity of riding on a skate board.
Ex: Tony Hawk is the best in the vertical skateboarding.

Swimming

An activity in which you swim for enjoyment, for exercise, or in races.
Ex: Mijael practice swimming in the pool.

Horse-riding

The activity of riding a horse, for enjoyment, exercise, or in competitions. Horse-riding is often simply called riding. The usual American word is horseback riding.
Ex: Andrea is riding a horse called Inti.

Reading

The act of reading or studying a book, newspaper, document etc.
Ex: I am riding El arte de conducir bajo la lluvia.

Playing computer games

Engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.
Ex: Diogo and edgar are playing computer games.

Painting

The activity of using paint to create a picture.
Ex: Leonardo da Vinci is painting La gioconda.

Come in

To enter a room, building, or other place.
Ex: Welcome! come in and have a drink.

Come round

To go to a place where someone is, especially their house, in order to visit them.
Ex: Alex is going to come round this afternoon. I want to play my new video game with him.

Get back

To return to a place.
Ex: I always feel tired when I get back home after a climbing holiday

Get off

To leave a bus, plane, or train.
Ex: I need to get off the train at the next station.

Look after

To be responsible for something.
Ex: Can you look after while I´m on holiday

Turn off

To stop a piece of equipment working temporarily by pressing a button or by moving a switch.
Ex: Let´s watch a film. Pleas turn off the TV.

Turn on

To make a piece of equipment start working by pressing a button or moving a switch.
Ex: Turn on the TV. My favourite show starts in a minute.

Nouns

Painting

A picture made using paint.
Ex: This paint is incredible.

Photograph

A picture of something that you make with a camera. In spoken language people usually say photo.
Ex: Many photos are taken on my birthday.

Music

Sounds made by voices or instruments arranged in a way that is pleasant to listen to.
Ex: My favourite kind of music is pop.

Guitar

A musical instrument with six strings, used in a wide variety of musical styles. It can be acoustic or electric. Someone who plays the guitar is called a guitarist.
Ex: I have a classic guitar.

Video games

A game in which players use electronic controls to move images on a screen.
Ex: The best video game is minecraft.

Verbs

To paint

Cover the surface of (something) with paint, as decoration or protection.
Ex: My sister Barbara is painting a beautiful landscape.

To take photograph

Take a photo using a camera.
Ex: Macarena takes a photograph of her father.

To play music

Play an instrument creating music.
Ex: Marcelo play music in his room.

To play the guitar

Use the guitar to produce music.
Ex: Martin played the guitar on my birthday.

To play video games

Playing games on a computer.
Ex: I play video games on my nintendo.
