HOME AND REPAIR
Understanding the essentials of meal planning, home maintenance, and clothing management can greatly enhance one's quality of life. Meal planning involves considering the nutritional needs of individuals based on factors like age, gender, activity levels, and health, while also taking into account personal and cultural food preferences.
I learned that whether your renting or own a house, you will have to maintain your home. As a renter, you have a legal responsibility to keep your home clean to the standard that most people would consider normal. and as the owner keeping your house clean and up to standard is protecting your investment.
I learned that a functional shelter requires basic supplies and equipment, in addition to furniture and appliances
I also learned how to repair a faucet properly
I learned that to save money on our house/shelter
we can do repairs by ourselves
Searching accomodations
I also learned that when buying a house, it not
just one expense but buying a house is very expensive
as you have to factor in paying mortgage, property tax,
land transfer tax and many other expenses
I also learned that a shelter/ house is not a home, a house
is just a building but a home is where you feel comfortable.
I learned that a shelter has to meet your
basic needs.
Meal Planning
I also learned how to meal plan using the Canadian food guide. To meal plan and eat healthy our plate needs to be 50% fruit and vegetable, and 25% protein, 25% grain
I learned that there are several factors that have an effect on planning meals for myself or a family.
1. The People. Nutritional needs are determined by age,
gender, activity levels, and health.
2. Food Preferences. If you serve food that no one likes,
then no matter how nutritious it is, it will not get eaten.
Consider cultural influences, too.
3. Variety. Consider a variety of colours, textures,
temperatures, shapes, and flavours.
4. Budget. Shopping wisely and stretching more
expensive items such as meat and poultry keeps food
spending in control.
Dress for sucess
I also learned that their is a concept called a capsule wardrobe which is a practice of editing your wardrobe down to your favorite clothes (clothes that fit your lifestyle + body right now), remixing them regularly, and shopping less often and more intentionally, and spending less money.
I also learned that your clothes say a lot about yourself, so we have to make sure our clothes represent us well
I also learned how to properly take care
of clothes. Some important tips I learned were: to follow washing instructions, separate your clothes and
to hang dry your jeans
I learned that I can repair my clothes
instead of always buying new clothes
