Cons: Tone can be confusing over email, this might not be as formal as the parent wants, teacher might take parents email in a different way. Lots of confusion of each others emotions.
Pros: You can talk in more detail about your student without fear of other parents, gain more insight to how your own child is doing in the classroom rather than the class as a whole.

Newsletter:

Cons: Parents may loose the paper, parents might not read the paper because everything is online these days, students may not give the letter to the parents resulting in them never receiving it.
Pros: have the hands on material of what is going on in the classroom, they can hang them on the fridge for the student to see, able to add more detail that the parents want.

Pros: You can update it regularly, parents don't need to create their own blog account, user-friendly for everyone.
Cons: Not everyone might have access to the internet.
