PET Radiopharmaceuticals

Various PET radiopharmaceuticals are used for different medical imaging purposes. F-18 FDG is commonly employed to assess abnormal glucose metabolism, particularly in brain imaging related to epileptic seizures, oncology for suspected cancer, and cardiac viability for conditions like coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction.

F-18 Fluciclovine(Axumin)

Imaging in men for prostate cancer (based on PSA levels).
Amino acid transport across mammalian cell membranes.Taken up by prostate cancer cells.Active transport.

F-18 Sodium Fluoride

Skeletal imaging- Define areas of altered osteogenic activity.
Accumulates in skeleton in an even fashion. Ion exchange.
