Separation of powers

A democratic system is characterized by the active engagement of citizens, who participate in elections and referendums to shape the laws and policies that govern them. The separation of powers is a fundamental principle, dividing governance into three branches:

The judicial power is the courts and judges and they make sure that the law is obeyed by everyone.

The executive power is the government and it applies and approves laws and administers the country.

The legislative power is the parliament and it approves laws and controls the government´s actions.
