Activity: Pen Pals
-Student will be given a pen pal from a class of the same grade in another country.
-Students will write to their pen pals via email, papers may be scanned and attached if typing skills are have not developed.
-Students will inform their pen pals about books they are reading by summarizing the stories for the pen pals.
-Students will write stories from their own experiences and also share them with their pen pals.
-Students will also have a chance to share out loud emails from their pen pals.
-Students will create their own story book and share with their pen pals.

Activity: Website
-Students, as a class will develop a class website/blog.
-Students will regualry update website/blog with daily status' for the class.
-Students will post pictures to the website/blog
-Students will create a video to send to their pen pals.

Students write compositions that describe and explain familiar objects, events, and
experiences. Student writing demonstrates a command of standard American English
and the drafting, research, and organizational strategies outlined in Writing Standard 1.0.
Word Analysis, Fluency, and Systematic Vocabulary Development 1.0
Students understand the basic features of reading. They select letter patterns and know
how to translate them into spoken language by using phonics, syllabication, and word
parts. They apply this knowledge to achieve fluent oral and silent reading.
