Stress is a significant mental and emotional strain often arising from demanding situations like the death of a loved one, job loss, financial burdens, toxic relationships, major life changes, or chronic illness.

Mental health disorder: Disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behaviour. Bipolar disorder- chronic mental illness that is characterized by episodes of energetic, manic highs and extreme, sometimes depressive lows. Schizophrenia- Impairs a person’s perception of reality and the world around them. It interferes with their connection to other people. PTSD-a mental illness that’s triggered after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Experiences that can cause PTSD can range from extreme events, like war and national disasters, to verbal or physical abuse. Symptoms of PTSD may include flashbacks or being easily startled.

Stress- Causes and ways to deal with Stress is a state of mental and emotional strain that is caused from demanding situations. Causes- The death of a loved one. Loss of a job. Increase in financial obligations. Toxic relationships. New big changes to life such as moving to a new home. Chronic illness or injury. Ways to deal with it- Meditation Physical activity Listening to music Writing journals Talk to friends, family

Passive communication: Avoids expressing their opinions or feelings, protecting their rights, and identifying and meeting their needs. Aggressive communication: Overly aggressive, do not take into account the feelings of others, very loud. Assertive communication: Expressing your thoughts, emotions, beliefs and opinions in an honest and appropriate way.

Conflict resolution: Resolve with yourself- Meditation, journal writing, counselling, talking with a friend/trusted adult. Resolve with others- De-escalation techniques, taking a break in the conversation/situation, getting support (counsellor, teacher, guidance, admin).

Signs of good mental health: Clear sense of self, the ability to use coping and self monitoring skills, social competence, making healthy choices, understanding ones culture and identity. Signs of bad mental health: Very negative attitude, not able to be confident in oneself, anxiety and stress.

Factors that affect mental health: Internal: Balance in life, engage in productive daily activities, maintain fulfilling relationships, adapt and cope with stress. External: Having a supportive network, having a supportive family, trusted adults and friends, given boundaries and expectations, feeling safe and having a sense of purpose, having a clean environment, safety and Injury Prevention.

Reflection of my participation: I feel I participated everyday and I consistently tried in class, I also showed up on time to class with the proper gear, I treated everyone with respect to the most part.

Personal Safety and Injury Prevention

Sports rules and Strategies: Volleyball: Ball must be hit over the net with hands only. Each side is allowed 3 hits. Maximum of 6 players on the court on each side at a time. Players cannot hit the ball more than once at a time. The team that hits the ball on the ground of the other team wins a point. Basketball: Must take one dribble for each step, no more than two steps with the ball in possession. If a player is hit on the court by another player that is a foul. Teams must try to score the ball in the opponent's basket in order to score points. Floor Hockey, Tchukball, badminton, Baseball, Ultimate, Soccer, Handball.

Weight room safety and tips include: Using the machines how they are meant to be used, put away equipment after use, put on the weight, be aware of others and help others better themselves. Tips, try to target a specific muscle group, help others, as well as enjoy yourself staying healthy and being active

Transferable skills: Teamwork, leadership, and communication are all skills that allow me to be successful in team sports and these skills are also useful for other things in life.

Sports and Activities Covered in the Gym/Weight Room

Financial and Social effects: Can hurt relationships and even end them, huge financial drain since drugs are expensive.

Emotional Effects: Very aggressive mood swings Depression Guilt Dependent

Type of drugs and the Physiological effects?Stimulants: Alertness, wakefulness, arousal. Hallucinogens: hallucinations, artificial sensations. Anti-Depressants: Improved mood, more concentration.

Factors and barriers that effect activity level: Factors are working out with friends, taking advantage of your strengths, re-frame exercise as a reward. Barriers are lack of money, lack of time, do not have a form of transportation to gym, or no space at home.

When and how much activity should we do? We should exercise 60 minutes a day.

What are main goals and objectives when we are in the gym? The main goal of going to the gym is to strengthen your body and improve the way your body can perform physical tasks.

Physical/emotional factors that influence eating habits? Diseases and sicknesses that make you hungry/full, stress, sadness.

Physical Fitness needs for Teens? Running, cycling, jogging, swimming.
