The Decline of Feudalism in Europe

100 Years War

The war lasted for about 100 years and it was from 1337-1453. The French king died and he did not have a son to be the king for him.

The English king wanted to claim the French land because he wanted it for himself. The English had the longbows and that is part of how they defeated the French.

Joan of Arch was captured by the English people. They accused her of being a witch and a hertic-belifs.

A feeling of nationalism emerged in England and in France. Power and prestage of the French monarchs increased.

The English people have the English long bow and it was 6 ft tall. The English were able to defeat the French in the early battles.

A 17 year old girl peasant claimed she heard the voices of people telling her to save France. She led French army to victory.

The Plague

The plague was black spots on the skin and it was painful to pop the ball. The black spots were swelling up on the skin.

The peasants had better working conditions because of the plague. They would get payed more because of the plague.

The plague was 50% of all infected people could die with in 3-7 days with out treatment. With the plague the people would suffer a lot because it would be hurtful when they would scratch themselves.

The plague began in the central Asia and maybe in China to. It killed more than half the population of Europe.

The rats and the fleas were the ones that made the plague. They made the plague because they came from the mangols.

The fleas were the most ones that could bring the plague because they were the ones that are almost everywhere. The plague was and contagous sickness.

Political Changes

King Edward of England chose to include more people in government. He created the government body known as Model Parliament.

Model Parliament included commoners, lower ranking clergy, and nobles. It allowed for many different opinion from different social classes to be heard.

King Henry II changed the legal system in England by requiring that people receive a trail by royal judges and juries. Before this innocence was determined by trail by ordeal or trail by combat.

This change in the system gave commoners more rights. This also resulted in less innocents being jailed.

The Magna Carta was a contract signed by king John of England because he was abusing his power. It was the first step in providing more rights to the people of England.

The Magna Carta introduced the idea that no person was above the law, not even the king. It also introduced the idea of Hadeas Corpus which said that no person could be jailed without being charged with a crime.
