what is it and how does it affect change?
humanism
This theory can greatly affect change in a positive way. It makes the individuals understand a certain group and try to put themselves in their shoes to see how they might see the world and themselves, possibly helping come to a resolution.
Using this theory would mean those who might judge a person for their choices in life would try and understand why they did it or how they view themselves and others before judging or accusing. This would help everyone communicate easily since everyone would make sure they understand each others points of view.
intersecionality
This social science theory resembles many of the others such as humanism and structural functionalist which are both very affective using understanding and communication. this theory will help any individual understand why someone maybe the way they are and see life the way they see it.
Its effective because it contributes to the life long sentence "don't judge a book by its cover". This way who every you see on the outside might be different on the inside and this theory gives people a chance to understand the person other then judge them by their looks.
feminism
This theory is very important and prominent in todays day and age. many fight for right of equality in work places and just wish to be viewed equally with similar if not, the same expectations as men. It is a movement that can and has created change but only makes an impact when a big event occurs such as WWII. I believe continuous discipline and efforts will create change but in a slow long term way, as a way of changing what norms we pass down generation after generation.
structural funtionalist
This social science theory helps each "group" of individuals have their word and get what they want as well as giving the other what they desire as well. In other words, this theory helps conflicting groups come to a mutual agreement in the end, helping change grow and become as diverse as it wishes.
Using this theory would resolve all conflict easily and effectively before it turns into conflict. it would help groups understand each other like in humanism and come to a reasonable conflict where everyone can benefit.
From what I have learned writing there theories, it has become evident that the clear way to change and evolve as a society is to understand one another and to communicate. in order to resolve conflict it is most important to come to a conclusion that pleases both sides by listening to the reasoning behind their actions and try to put yourself in their shoes.
cognitive
This is a theory that bases change off of watching and learning from others who decide to do it themselves. This has the potential to create change but there are two ways this theory could work and/or fail.
Depending on who the individual decides to be with, this can negatively impact or positively impact their lives. if the individual is with people who are lazy, angry, steal and are a all around bad influence, the individual has a higher chance of doing those acts, which would negatively impact those around him/her as well. on the other hand, there is a possibility they are with people who exercise and eat healthy and volunteer, which would impact them positively and act as a chain reaction.
The other risk is the possibility of change occurring with a big event such as a bombing or a major attack. That can affect those who weren't even present just by seeing the event roll out infant of them. It can have them quickly rethink their lives and attempt to better it for themselves, or can negatively impact a individual and make them angry and violent and have them possibly attack somewhere related to the previous attacker as revenge.
cultural materialism
I believe cultural materialism is stopping change from occurring. It is restricting countries to evolve, only with what they have in their hands when many need help or resources from other countries in order to evolve and make a difference. Without exterior resources the country will be forces to continue living in what ever conditions they have right now and will never be able to evolve into a better, healthier, wealthier and safer country.
conflict
This social science theory does not help change. It encourages violence and rivalry which can slow down change. This theory is all about the more dominant "group". But with that in mind, nothing will ever change and evolution will stop because this one stronger "group" will always win no matter what.
This theory can actually possibly reverse change and make people dislike a certain group and make their journey to acceptance even harder than before.
