Fluids Concept Map

Fluid: A substance with no real shape that flows from gravity. Fluids are also essential to all life on Earth.

Nature

Archer Fish: A type of fish that uses hydraulics to shoot insects with water away from plants.

Swim Bladder: A bladder in which fish use to control their buoyancy.

Water: A colorless liquid that acts as a fluid which can be found in many natural places on Earth.

Natural Laws

Pressure: A physical force on an object.

Compression: To squeeze something in a small area.

Pascal's Law: The law in which the amount of area/force = pressure in containers with fluids.

Buoyancy: An upward force than can found in nature and technology

Technology

Hydraulic System: A system that uses liquids under pressure.

Vault: Technology which uses hydraulics and fluids to create working functions in techology.

Ballast Tank: Parts of a submarine which is used to change the vessel's buoyancy.

The SCIENCE of Fluids

Density: Mass per unit volume of something.

Fluid Dynamics: A part of fluid mechanics which is a study of how fluid move.

Hydrodynamics: A part of fluid dynamics which is a study of how liquids move.

Viscosity: A fluid's resistance to changing volume.

Cohesion: Two same substances sticking together.

Adhesion: Two different substances sticking together.

Aerodynamics: The study of how gasses move.

Gas: A matter in which has no mass or density which can fit in any container.
