Professional Growth Plan

The focus of Amy Boljkovac's professional growth plan includes the creation and delivery of a math-focused technology professional development (PD) session. Collaborating closely with a Technology Mentor, who has previously succeeded in creating math instructional videos, is a key component of her strategy.

Amy Boljkovac's Professional Growth Plan

Action Plan #2 Keep up my own blog and find new educational blogs.

As with the website, this will also be an ongoing goal. In order to ensure I do actively search new blogs online, I will set the goal of finding one new blog a month. Therefore, this time next year, if I have at least 12 blogs saved in my bookmarks that I check in with regularly then I will have met my goal.
I will interact with my colleagues so I can discuss what I find in educator's blogs and also to find out who they are following. The topic of blogs has come up at our team meetings but they didn't peak my interest until going through this course. I will also ask the teachers I work with if they blog or follow anyone else's blog.
Google help and my techie colleagues will help me with support for my own blog. I will also ask my colleagues whose blogs they follow in order to find more quality bloggers/educators to check out.
Google Blogger will help me maintain my own blog.
This relates to the professional development aspect of my job. I will be furthering my own learning by reading about what other professionals are doing in their classrooms.

Action Plan #1 Keep Up my Website

This is an action plan that will be ongoing, but I will set the goal (and calendar reminders) to update my website bi-weekly. I will know this goal has become part of my regular practice when I am checking and updating my website without the need of the reminders.
I will interact with the teachers I work with along with my Numeracy colleagues to help me create and share resources.
Google help and YouTube tutorials on creating and maintaining a website will be the first place I search for information. I will also ask my 'techie' friends who maintain their own websites.
Google sites will be the most important technology for this endeavour. I will have to go beyond what I already know and learn more about what the website can do for me.
Collaborating with teachers and distributing resources is part of my job as a Numeracy Lead. By maintainting my website, I will have an avenue to share the resources I create and those created in collaboration with other teachers.

In the next 2-4 years, I plan on expanding my skillset even more than I have over the course of taking EDUC 5203. I plan on using technology in a more purposeful and productive way both in my work and at home. I have become comfortable with 5 new-to-me programs (Prezi, Wordle, Mindimo, Blogger and Google sites). I plan on continuing to hone my skills with these programs but also to explore new ones. Here's how I plan to accomplish this...

Action Plan #4 Create and Deliver a Math focused Technology PD Session.

I will have completed this goal when the PD session has been created and delivered to its target audience.
The Technology Mentor who will be creating this PD opportunity with me is who I will interact with the most. Last year one of her professional goals was to make math videos to put on YouTube. All the Numeracy Leads participated in creating them and it was fairly successful. With this history, I believe she will be willing to participate in my professional goal.
The Technology Mentor I will be collaborating with will be my primary source of information.
All of the technologies I am aware of will impact this goal because any of them (SMART board, Prezi, Mindomo, Wordle, PowerPoint, YouTube, Blogger) may be used in a lesson.
Delivering professional development seminars is part of my job.

Action Plan #3 Develop Math Lesson(s) that Purposefully Incorporate Tecnology

Self-assessment of goal.
I will know I have completed this action plan when a lesson has been created, delivered, and is on my website.
Who will I interact with to further my growth?
I am currently working with two teachers who have SMART boards in their rooms and use them on a regular basis for literacy and sometimes for math. I will seek them out and ask if one of them would like to take on this project with me.
Where will I go for information/instruction related to this technology?
SMARTtech.com (see link) has many great resources for lessons using the SMART board. I will also seek help from colleagues who use technology in their math classes.
What technologies do I know about now that will impact this?
All of the technologies I am aware of to date will impact these lessons: SMART board, Prezi, Mindomo, Wordle, PowerPoint, YouTube and Blogger. Any of these may be used in a lesson.
How does this relate to my professional work?
Collaborating and co-planning is a big part of my job. When a teacher and I develop a lesson, I can then put it on my website to share with other teachers at that grade level.
