Nina: 1. Associatie 2. Wat werkt. 1. communicatie, uitdagen, actie e reactive en het imponeren. 2 Muziek, de mannen. De stem van de eerste jonge op het fimpje. De poses op de stoel. Wat als je de volgorder andersom zet? Samen naar de houdingen tegen over elkaar.

'' SAND MAN '' PERFORMANCE
Dance Department 4 – Teacher
A piece for 3 male and 1 female non professional performers
Choreography and direction by Kevin Gumbs

Artistic Vision:
For the last half year I have created different Multidiciplinairy performances.Therefor this is something I want to continue pursuing definitely as a performing artist. Directing and choreographing my new piece '' SANDMAN'' will be incorporated with different artistically disciplines as well. I will incorporate theatre, text, projection and dance. Concept wise making all of these disciplines become one performance. Which is quite challenging, but I do believe this gives me so much new perspective sight to guide this piece to such something unique. The concept '' Sandman '' is based on a group of male, the fascination about their manhood. I can imagine these three men living in one village and coming twice a week to discuss different topics, or just the being of such environment of the masculine energy. These men are all over the 25-year-old. I believe at this stage of age is where many have experience the ups and downs as becoming an adult. The group energy should be enormously out there, involving the body language with text. Sand Man is like a bar where all these twenty-men come together and being rough in language wise, body language- and the way they approach one another. They eventually get to discuss on different themes and get to confront themselves and the other men.
Topics that will be confronted with when it comes to directing SANDMAN: 1. DRINKING AND SMOKING: Guys always gather in different places at different times to participate in either drinking or smoking. Smoking and drinking has over the years been a unifying factor which brings guys together. 2 WOMANIZING: Guys always gather to discuss about women they just met or had had dealings with. What drives me crazy is how they analyze the women anatomy, the dissecting and how good or bad the girl is. way better. 5 BUSINESS: Bragging about their salary, bonus. Position in the company and how succesful and hard working they're, this can get really messy at times.
The work method
Main Goal:
The masculine energy is quite important for this performance. These bodies will be drastically physically with each other. They will challenge each other, the frustions should be experience. It's all about the different confrontions between these men and fighting their way through. This will be cooporated with movements and spoken words. The selected group for '' Sand MAN'' are young male catergorized as 25 plus. Well trained sport men bodies.
End resuts:
the beginning of the process I will give these men some assignments speficially when It comes to confronted themselves and other men. Giving them the different topics that I have mention. Me as the directed will be just the out sider at first and wittnes how they deliberate with each other, the specific body languages. I will observe they way they move, walk, and the manly energy that is created in the group. From there on I can start choreographing, not movements yet but situations. Because I'm focussing on a multiciplinairy performance, text that is said in the different discussions I will make them repeat them and incorporate in the performance.
At the end it should be a village, strong and very overpowering energy that these men will project to the audience.

12 April: Materiaal vertalen in het dans, overgangen maken. Feedback van begeleider.
14 April: Uitlichten met danser +extra repetitie stuk afmaken.
