Motivations

Motivations to learn

My motivation for learning programming comes from my ambition to become a Software Engineer when I grow older. I also love to learn new languages in order to work with new game engines and libraries to make more games and media

Learning Interests

My learning interests include learning about media and making websites and infographics on many platforms. I also enjoy learning programming and especially love applying programming to developing games on game engines

Who am I?

I am Shreyas Shastry, I am 15 years old and I enjoy 3D modelling and programming alongside reading in my free time. Many of these interests are the reason I chose to attend this course, I wanted to learn more about programming, syntax and application in the real world.

I also attend and practice for many math competitions such as ARML, Cayley, etc.

A lot of my programming knowledge comes from my Dad who taught me python. He works as a software engineer.

My background is Indian, my family comes from South India and me and my family practice Hinduism at home.

Ways to help my learning

In Class Support

You can aid my learning in class by providing copies of notes, videos for more visual aid and providing the opportunity for you to repeat certain instructions that I may not have heard the first time. It would also help if you posted lessons/lesson plans in D2L so I can practice your lessons at home.

Assignment Support

Provide examples of past work and allow small extension of due dates in case of an unexpected event.

Activities outside school

Outside of school I do Piano lessons, Swimming lessons and I attend a math club every Saturday hosted by York University.

My hobbies include modelling on 3D blender, reading & watching history, watching YouTube videos and playing games.

My Learning

Learning Preferences

I prefer a quiet space when doing assignments. I work best without distraction from various noises in and outside the classroom.

Learning Styles

I am a Visual and a Kinesthetic learner, I learn best with real world examples and visual diagrams in contrast to words.

Learning Strengths

My learning strengths are in my performance in tasks based on critical thinking and problem solving alongside having good learning skills and work habits. I am always on task in class and I work hard in order to learn all I can in this course.

I struggle a bit with communication however I am improving and I believe I can learn to improve my communication of my work to my peers and my teacher
