How do we treat our water?

The Second Method is Ozone,Biologically Active Carbon Contactor and Membrane Filtration (OBM) Treatment.
The Last steps for both treatments are Chlorination which Inactivates bacteria/disese causing organisms and Flouridation which protects our teeth from cavities. It is eventually sent to the consumers
Ozonization (Kills bacteria and disease causing microorganisms). BAC contactors (Removal of organic materials from water) and Membranes (removal of small particles and microorganisms by filtering water through it). There is an alternative version of this which includes UV light as an extra step
The first method of treatment is Conventional or Ultraviolet treatment.
This treatment consists of coagulation (the addition of aluminum salt or maganese and then filtering the water). Filtration (Removal of small particles and microorganisms). Ultraviolet Light (UV Inactivation of bacteria and disease causing microorganisms)
We Have the capability of Filtering 1,200 million litres of treated and safe drinking water per day in just one facility, The Lakeview Water Treatment Plant.

Where is our water stored

The South Peel Distribution System - This system stores our water and feeds this water to the cities of Brampton, Caledon, And Mississauga. This System has a total of 13 reservoirs, 4 elevated tanks and 2 standpipes

What is "Hard Water"

How do we soften water
Usually people install a water softener that filters all of the minerals like calcium and magnesium out of the water that makes it hard.
Hard water is water that hat other chemicals in it, usually it is characterized by a murky look that isn't clear. Hard water also does not have many bubbles unlike soft water.

How does Missisauga test it's water

Missisauga tests it's water twice a year for lead. They test all the water in Missisauga, Caledon, and Brampton. they test not only homes but municipal hydrants

The South Peel Drinking water System (SPDWS)

The SPDWS is a supply chain which distributes water. However it does not filter this water, the filtering is done by specific plants like the Lakeview Water Treatment Plant.
The SPDWS provides 1.5 million people water

The SPDWS provides this water to not only Mississauga but Brampton and southern Caledon

How expensive is the SPDWS

The SPDWS Costs 128,241,000$ across replacement, Repair, and Installation
