What I Don't Know

The National Cadet Biathlon involves a complex organization of officials and various responsibilities spread across different areas. The stadium requires personnel for start and finish lines, equipment checks, and first aid, with each role clearly defined in terms of the number of people needed.

What I Don't Know

National Cadet Biathlon

OFFICIALS

With all f this it means that to operate a National Biathlon you would need 35+ cadets
There are 4 types if officials
HQ

HQ has to have cadets who speak french

There are two HQ cadets that run around and make sure everything is running smoothly

Stadium

There is SF, Setup, Equipment check and First Aid

For first aid there HAS to be 2 officers at the finish line and one or two cadets

Equipment check has max 3 people and an officer

Setup is usually everyone that is not helping setup range, sometimes even athletes will offer to help

There are 3 people for SF (Start Finish)

Range

There is also Sticker Board and Runners

3 people on sticker board 2 Runners

There are 24 shooting lanes and every 2 lanes has one person working them.

There has to be a range safety officer on site at all times

12 Primary's 3 Secondary's

Course

Course is where the cadets go on course to make sure that there isn't any cheating and people do not get lost

Depending on the race there is usually 2-6 people

SKIING

There are many different courses while you race
Males have a longer and more challenging course than females
There are such things as mixed teams, they have a just as much of a chance as any other team
The longest race done is the 11KM Individual Youth Males
For Youth Female (my category)

Nationals: 6KM Team Sprint 4.5KM Team Relay 6KM Patrol Race 7KM Mass Start OR 10KM Individual Race

Provincial: 6KM Team Sprint 4.5KM Team Race

Area's: 5KM

Athletes have to have three sets of ski's and poles to make sure that if they break you have backup
Rollerski's are what many competitors use when ther is no snow

FITNESS

Cross country Skiing is the type used but down hill and up hill skiing is also present in Biathlon
Athletes should train everyday and have one or two rest days put in their schedule
Oylmpic athletes obviously do more work than Cadet athletes but Cadets should do 3+ hours of exercise per day
Every muscle group is needed for Biathlon
Cardio is a major category used in this sport (obviously)

DIET

The number one rule is don't drink milk before a race
drinking milk after a race is always good because it gives you more energy that you lost
Vegetables and fruit are also extremely important because of the energy they will give your body
Spinach, Banana, Sweet Potato, Apples, Oranges are some of the foods that will give you boosts of energy
Chicken Breast, Steak, and Pork Tenderloin are some of the meats with the highest protein (very good on the night before a race)
Carbs are one of the most important food groups
There are bad carbs such as white pasta, french fries etc. which you should stay away from
Almonds, Salmon and Beans are the best was to get energy fast (and bad breath)
