Kinderen in groep 3/4 leren om basisinformatie over zichzelf te geven, zoals hun naam, adres en nationaliteit. Ze maken hierbij soms gebruik van een woordenboek. Ze kunnen bekende woorden herkennen die vergezeld gaan van afbeeldingen, zoals menukaarten van fastfoodrestaurants of prentenboeken.
