I believe learning the Canadian history course should be mandatory.

Learning about history can help us understand where everything is

Through an educational standpoint, learning Canadian history can help us understand how Canada's evolution as a country, and how it fits relevant to the world.

By learning about our ancestors, it will give us a new appreciation for how we live

For example, instead of getting upset that we have to go to school, we should appreciate the fact that we are able to do so, and use technology that we have.

Women in the past weren't even able to go to school.

Therefore, by comparing our times to the past, we will realize how much better off we actually are, with the evolution of our technological and society evolution.

Instead of complaining about our everyday lives, that we have to go to school, or about our government, we sometimes have to put our issues into perspective.

Learning about history can reduce racism and derogatory comments.

By understanding these tragic pasts that those in the minority endured, such as those of colour, our society will hopefully gain empathy instead of saying discriminatory comments

Recent issue today.

For example, if you taking the example of the residential schools that existed during the 1870-1990s, those of the Indigenous community were put through lots of distress, as they were beaten and even forced to become Catholic.

By shining light on these events, hopefully students will be able to establish a sense of respect to those in the minority in Canada.

We can learn about and analyze past events to prepare us for the future

For example, if we see an issue unfolding comprable to in the past, we may be able to predict a huge issue may occur

This way, we won't have to make the same mistakes as we did in the past
