Nutrition and Public Health

Public health involves a comprehensive approach to ensuring the well-being of individuals and communities. It encompasses a variety of institutions, people, and resources dedicated to providing healthcare, which is structured into four levels:

Community

Community nutrition
Community nutrition aims to improve the nutritional and health status of individuals and population groups in a community.
Community Health
As the environmental, social, and economic resources to sustain emotional and physical well-being among people in ways that advance their aspirations and satisfy their needs in their unique environment.
A social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.

Health

Healthy environments
A healthy environment is a human environment that poses few risks and health hazards.
Health care levels
Healthcare is divided into four levels; primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. Used to distinguish between the complexities of medical cases and the level of care they require.
State of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Health promotion
Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health.
Education for health
Comprises consciously constructed opportunities for learning involving some form of communication designed to improve health literacy, including improving knowledge, and developing life skills which are conducive to individual and community health.
Health System
Refers to the institutions, people and resources involved in delivering health care to individuals.

Prevention

Prevention is the deterring of the development of a disease, or stopping the progression of a disease that has already begun.

Preventive Medicine

The practice of promoting preventive health care to improve patient well-being. The goal is to ultimately prevent disease, disability, and death.

Public Health

Actions
A peer-reviewed Open Access journal that communicates and reports new knowledge across all relevant areas of operational research including: infection control, nutrition, TB, HIV, vaccines, smoking, COVID-19, microbial resistance and disease outbreaks.
Meaning
It's the art and science of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organized efforts of society.

Illness

Defined as the ill health the person identifies themselves with, often based on self reported mental or physical symptoms

Epidemiology

It is a scientific method to study the dietary determinants of health, establish nutritional recommendations and dietary guidelines, and design effective nutritional interventions.
