Completely started from the groundup in Asheville; Started out as a small group of friends and has now become a professional soccer team in the USL league two

Hippieish Subculture
See lots of Subarus and SUVs on the roads and in parking lots because of the outdoorsy and nature lifestyle that people love here!
Alot of shops that sell tiedie or other knick knacks related to the hippie movement
A lot of locals in Asheville have a distinct style generally reminiscient of the 70s.
Population
Active downtown but spread out population: Downtown is bustling all the time but a majority of residents live outside of it. Usually in places like Candler or Balfour
Alot of northern transplants, so i experienced a few cold moments among people but there were still people and places that reminded me of Mississippi
Can be very touristy, especially during spring break or summer but still very genuine and not as tourist trapy as places like Gatlinburg TN
Political
Very active and vocal political community
Liberal people in a generally conservative state
Culture simillar to the city of Austin, Texas.
