La teoría de las inteligencias múltiples, desarrollada por Howard Gardner, reconoce la variedad de habilidades y capacidades que poseen los seres humanos. Entre estas inteligencias, se encuentra la inteligencia interpersonal, que permite a las personas relacionarse efectivamente con los demás, y es común en consejeros y líderes políticos.
