Microsoft Student Ambassador

My Journey as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador:

Empowering Others through Technology

I became a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador (MLSA) after applying at the end of last year and receiving my acceptance email on January 7th. I applied because I have a genuine interest in Microsoft technologies.

To progress through the MLSA program, I completed the alpha milestone by organizing a workshop on deploying static web apps to the cloud using Azure and CI/CD with GitHub actions. This workshop attracted around 20 attendees and helped me gain practical experience in these areas.

Moving on to the beta milestone, I organized another workshop focusing on creating ASP.NET Web Applications and deploying them to Microsoft IIS on Windows Server. This milestone allowed me to further expand my knowledge and skills.

However, I found that organizing workshops was not my preferred way of sharing knowledge. I found it exhausting and felt that it lacked the impact I desired.

Instead, I decided to explore a different avenue and created a YouTube video about Dependency Injection, which turned out to be a more enjoyable experience for me. Moreover, the video reached a wider audience, which made me even more motivated.

Looking ahead, my goal is to create more videos about technology in Moroccan Darija. I aspire to become one of the pioneers in this field, helping people in our community access valuable content in a language they are comfortable with. By doing so, I hope to bridge the gap and make technology more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

In summary, my journey as an MLSA has been a remarkable experience. I have learned the importance of finding my own voice and exploring different ways to share knowledge. My ultimate aim is to contribute to the tech community through engaging videos in Moroccan Darija, making a positive impact and inspiring others to pursue their passions in technology.

Hackathon 1337ai

I recently participated in the ThinkAI hackathon organized by the 1337ai club in collaboration with 1337 Benguerir School and Math&Maroc. Our team, consisting of myself, El Bachir Outidrarine, and Brahim El Hoube, embarked on a challenging yet rewarding journey, ultimately creating an AI-powered solution for the tourism sector. Allow me to take you through our incredible hackathon adventure!

The hackathon presented us with three captivating challenges: NLP in relation to Moroccan languages, Diffusion challenge in relation to Moroccan culture, and an intriguing AI product using APIs. After careful consideration, our team decided to tackle the latter challenge, as it allowed us to explore the intersection of AI and tourism, an area brimming with potential.

Our mission was to develop an innovative mobile app using Ionic framework, incorporating the power of various APIs to enhance the tourist experience. Our app boasted two standout features that aimed to bridge the language barrier and provide valuable information to travelers.

The first feature was an object identifier, leveraging the Azure Cognitive Services APIs. Tourists, who may not be familiar with Moroccan Darija, could simply open the app, activate the camera, and capture an image of an object. Our AI algorithms would then kick into action, swiftly identifying the object and providing its name in both the tourist's native language and Moroccan Darija. This seamless translation capability enabled travelers to effortlessly navigate their surroundings and foster meaningful connections with the local culture.

Our second feature was a monument detector, powered by a model we trained using TeachableMachine. By simply capturing an image of a Moroccan monument, tourists could unlock a wealth of information. Our app not only provided fascinating facts about the monument but also offered recommendations for nearby restaurants, hotels, and activities. This comprehensive feature aimed to create a holistic travel experience, enriching tourists' understanding of the destination and ensuring they make the most of their visit.

The hackathon was an intense 48-hour sprint filled with coding, brainstorming, and refining our ideas. The vibrant atmosphere at the UM6P/1337 Benguerir campus, where the hackathon was hosted, fueled our creativity and determination. In addition to the hands-on development, we had the opportunity to attend two thought-provoking conferences by industry experts.

Mohamed Amine BENNOUNA enlightened us about the perils of AI overfitting, reminding us of the importance of building robust and generalized models. However, it was Maha Elbayad's talk on NLP that truly resonated with me. She emphasized the significance of understanding the underlying concepts and algorithms of NLP, advocating for their purposeful utilization rather than relying solely on generic large language models. It was a valuable reminder of the power of NLP in its specific use cases.

Throughout the hackathon, our team persevered through challenges, collaborated effectively, and leveraged the vast potential of AI technologies. We were immensely proud of our creation and the positive impact it could have on the tourism industry.

The ThinkAI hackathon was not just about coding and competition; it was an opportunity to connect with fellow innovators, learn from industry leaders, and push the boundaries of what AI can achieve in the realm of tourism. We left the hackathon with new friendships, a deeper understanding of AI's potential, and a sense of fulfillment.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the 1337ai club, 1337 Benguerir School, and Math&Maroc for organizing this incredible event. The ThinkAI hackathon has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our team, propelling us further into the exciting world of AI innovation.

As we continue our journey, we are excited to explore new possibilities and potential applications for AI in the tourism sector. The hackathon served as a catalyst, igniting our passion to create meaningful solutions that enhance the travel experience for people around the world.

We believe that our app is just the beginning of a larger revolution in the tourism industry. With advancements in AI and the ever-expanding array of APIs, the possibilities are endless. Imagine real-time language translation, personalized recommendations based on traveler preferences, augmented reality experiences that bring historical sites to life—the potential for innovation is immense.

But it doesn't stop there. We recognize the importance of responsible and ethical AI development. As we witnessed during the hackathon conferences, understanding the underlying algorithms and concepts is crucial to leveraging AI's power effectively.
