ENGL 307

In creating a project proposal, it is essential to use flexible strategies for reading, drafting, reviewing, collaborating, revising, rewriting, rereading, and editing. The integration of various technologies, such as Google Drive, iMessage, and Facetime, facilitates the process by allowing team members to communicate and provide feedback effectively.

ENGL 307

Lori Bable (Professor) // Jordan Carpenter (Student)

Attend to the ethical responsibilities required by complex business

Due to our relationship with an actual business, it was important to make ethical decisions in our part of the process due to our own representation of our professor, class, and university. It also was important to be professional because we were representing each other.

Responding to productive feedback and working in teams

Matt Rusich makes a great point in his Tumblr Blog regarding Usability Evaluations (DD13AHW1). He mentions how it depends on who the users are, their background, and what use they may have for the document. Each person will respond differently, than the first, which makes the feedback process that much more important. He also mentions that most people aren't as likely as to use these tests, but if they did, their individual projects would increase in quality. (https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/blog/mattrusich)
Response to reading notes - Dylan Roe posted about Chapter four and how it is all about writing collaboratively and managing projects. Dylan is one of my partners in JDM and his his post and him as a partner has taught me how to provide and receive productive feedback. His post talks about how it is vital to be a team player when working in any team dynamic. (LINK - http://dylanroe.tumblr.com/post/150996963772/dd6ahw1-reading-notes )

Use flexible strategies for reading, drafting, reviewing, collaborating, revising, rewriting, rereading, and editing using a variety of technologies

A topic that I learned after I read Maddison Haggarton's GSP was the important detail that we need to pay attention to how we use or don't use commas. It's easy to think that you might need two or even three in a long sentence, but we can get carried away by relying to heavy on this punctuation. During the creation of our Project Proposal, JDM had to create various flexible strategies in where to meet, how to communicate and how to provide useful feedback. We relied on various technologies (Google Drive, iMessage, and Facetime) to produce our Proposal. (LINK - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZICMCM2zcL13kILyMU32dM9kmGdIkDdNyFjq26sNAvQ )

Create and maintain skills that create long term community

This class showed me various ways that I can create and maintain long-term community with the people I work alongside or even for. I appreciate the idea how our business interactions can have such impact that it can cause a relationship to be created from those business interactions. While I personally have personal experiences in this idea, It was nice to experience it again with different people.

Compose documents that provide a clear understanding of intentions and ideas

Creating the brochure for HNS fulfilled this class goal due to the various amounts of work the was required to complete this task. Trouble shooting, creative thinking, and other detail oriented tasks were things that our group had to figure out. Creating a document that would be accessible to various audiences was critical. I believe that we were able to convey clear ideas and intensions.
GSP Response - In Remi Buckingham's GSP, she mentions her ongoing struggle with run-on sentences. I can completely relate to this problem, in which I often find myself having to correct various parts of my writing due to long sentences. Remi's response is helpful regarding my bad habit. Develop intentional cross-cultural connections

Define in our own words - Creating a cross-cultural connection has been easy as JDM has partnered with HNS. They mostly deal with Hispanic cultural due to their location in South Tucson. This connection has developed our group by exposing us to different a culture and way of life.
Define in own words

Responding to a variety of cultural situations and global audiences.

Working with House of Neighborly Service required us to learn and become invested in the latino/a communities in Tucson. Dylan, Matt, and my self have no relation to these communities, so we had to research, interview and observe so we had first-hand knowledge with these communities. This experience will serve as a great reminder of how it is so important it is to understand your audience.

Analyzing and composing a multitude of business and professional texts

4.1 - In the past few weeks, I have been required to create and edit professional texts. This has been a course goal all semester and I have had plenty of experience regarding this goal by deciding what content we implement.
During our time with Kerri Lopez, we wee required to examine various professional texts. Our experience in ENGL 307 and our textbook provided great use when reviewing these documents.

Develop increased understanding of literacy regarding technology

4.3 - As I mentioned above, I have increased my learning ability within various design programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Indesign. I've had to trouble shoot various times when I have ran into problems. I will be able to implement these skills in to future ventures.
The creation of our project proposal required a great deal of understanding regarding technology. Communication via email, excel and google drive are all critical components. They will continue to be critical in the future. LINK ( https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZICMCM2zcL13kILyMU32dM9kmGdIkDdNyFjq26sNAvQ )

Identify need for various technological and document design processes

4.2 - I personally have found great need for technological design processes. I taught my self how to use Adobe Indesign, which creates high end professional documents. I could have used an application like Microsoft Word or Publisher, but I would have sacrifice overall design if I had.
