The lesson plan focuses on introducing students to holidays celebrated in different countries and cultures, particularly New Year and Halloween. It aims to foster an appreciation for these holidays by encouraging students to share what they learn and create unique symbols representing key components of the holidays.

Assesment

At the end of class, each student answers the following questions presented to them on index cards: What did we do in class? Why did we do it? What did I learn today? How can I apply it? What questions do I have about it?

Outline all the information you will need in order to create your evaluation content, add notes and figure out what type of assessment will conclude your lesson (test, essay, presentation, etc).

Designate each corner of the classroom to represent A, B, C, and D. Students go to the corner that they believe corresponds with the correct answer.

After having graded and analyzed your students' work, establish what kind of feedback you will give them.

Will you have a discussion or will you give them written indications on the tests?

Will students need to review some of the content they didn't fully understand?

Students can write their own questions about the content and then quiz each other. They would also spend time going through the incorrect answers with each other to heighten their understanding.

Try to evaluate your planned assessment and establish whether it's appropriate as evidence for the Student Learning Objective.

Resources

More and more teachers are using visual aids and other helping tools to exemplify lessons.

Inspiring

You can attach your own previously created mind maps or you can ask them to create their own.

Books

You can recommend books to your students which are related to your lesson, or which will help them gain a broader perspective on the lesson.

Materials

Write down what materials you want to use.

Plenary

Have students write about a traditions they have in their family, complete with one sentence describing it, one colored picture representing the origin of the tradition, and the month or date it is celebrated.

Plan the activities your students will be involved in during the plenary session.

For example: a quiz, exit tickets, keyword bingo, RAG123, etc.

Students will be able to demonstrate an appreciation for a holiday that is celebrated by another country or culture by sharing what is learned about the holiday and creating unique symbols to represent the important components of the holiday.

Having established the intention of your plenary session, it is now time to outline the objectives.

For example: clarify students' understanding, help students acquire different points of view, improve their critical judgment skills, promote free discussions, encourage students to ask questions, etc.

Activities

Group
Students write postcards describing positive and negative holiday experiences. Each student is given a copy of the worksheet. The students begin by writing down positive and negative adjectives to describe different aspects of a holiday. For example, if the aspect was food, students might write: disgusting, cold, delicious, tasty, etc.

Keep your students engaged with group games, allowing them to practice vocabulary, grammar rules, learn new concepts, etc.
