If the gradient is steep, the river will flow Quickly.
If the gradient is gentle, the river will flow slowly

The obstalces causes friction between the water and the channel.
This will slow down the river flow ans reduce the speed of the river.
wetted perimeter
The shape of a river channel affects the wted perimeter.
Friction causes the flow of river to slow down.
IF the wetted perimeter is large, there will be more water.
If wetted perimeter is small, less friction is generated.
volume of river
Climate
Affect the volume of the water channel.
Amount of water in channel fluctures acording to the amount of rainfall recieved during each lesson.
Presence of vegetation
Vegetation does not allow much water to infiltrate the ground thus, increasing the flow of surface runoff.
Size of drainage basin
The bigger the drainage the greater amount will be collected in the drainage area.
