In the early 20th century, economic contrasts between nations led to the formation of two major alliances in Europe: the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. The assassination of the Austrian heir in 1914 triggered a chain of events that escalated into a global conflict.

The First World War

1917: because of the Bolshevik Revolution Russia retreated but the U.S. entered the war supporting of the Allied Forces.

1918: Germany was defeated leaving the world in the chaos.

1919: the victorious nations took part in a post-war summit in Paris.

In the first years of the 19th century there were many contrasts between nations due to economic interests.

For this reason, in Europe, two opposite alliances formed:
The Triple Alliance: Austria, Germany and Italy
The Triple Entente: Britain, France and Russia
