|Eye Glasses| Eye glasses are the most common form of eye wear used to improve types of vision problems like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

ENVIRONMENTAL

IMPACT #2: Glass production for the lenses of eyeglasses has a major effect on the environment. Major environmental impact of glass production is caused by atmospheric emissions from melting activities.
EVIDENCE #2: The combustion of natural gas and fuel oil as well as decomposition of raw materials during the melting lead to the emission of CO2. This is the only greenhouse gas released during the production of glass.
IMPACT #1: There is a lot of plastic waste that comes from the production of eyeglasses.
EVIDENCE #1: 35 grams of plastic are used for lenses that come pre-finished from manufacturers. Also, the frames of eyeglasses are made from heavily laminate acetates obtained from non-renewable oil. The making of these frames are very polluting, therefore, being dangerous for the environment.

PERSONAL

Glasses are something that I will have to invest in unless I invest in laser eye surgery as a long term solution. A lot of money goes into purchasing eyeglasses especially if you have other family members that need glasses as well. Personally, there are 4 people in my family that need glasses so a lot of money is put into purchasing the eyeglasses.
IMPACT #1: I have myopic eyesight which means I can see close objects clearly but distant objects are blurry. Having eyeglasses fixes this problem for me by allowing me to see clearly into the distance.
EVIDENCE #1: Two years back, I started noticing that while sitting in class I couldn’t see the words on the projector at the front of the classroom. To fix my dilemma, I went to my eye doctor and got a prescription for eyeglasses. Having eyeglasses has fixed my issue of not being able to see things far off in the distance clearly. Eyeglasses were an easy solution to my problem because, they aren’t something that I will have to buy over and over many times to the point where all my money is being put into it.

ECONOMIC

IMPACT #2: Some people cannot afford to buy eyeglasses when the economy is low which results in them not being able to put in their best efforts into tasks.
EVIDENCE #2: Not being able to buy the eyeglasses needed to complete ordinary tasks during a regular day can stop a person from being hired for a job, being able to complete easy tasks throughout the day. There are many factors of the economy that are affected if you do not have eyeglasses.
IMPACT #1: The more people that have damaged eyesight's, the more people will need to buy the eyeglasses.
EVIDENCE #1: The eyeglasses business overall has a revenue of $274 million with the annual growth of 1.4%. With this revenue and annual growth, many job opportunities to people who are in need of jobs are available. The impact of the eyeglass business has a major impact economically.

SCIENTIFIC

IMPACT #2: People with hyperopia need a plus lens to correct it in which the focal point moves forward.
EVIDENCE #2: A plus lens is thickest at the center, it bends light toward the center. As the plus lens strength increases, the focal point becomes shorter.
IMPACT #1: People with myopia need a minus lens to correct it by pushing the focus further back.
EVIDENCE #1: The minus lens is thicker at the base, making the light spread away from the lens center. As the lens strength increases, the focal point becomes longer.

SOCIETY

IMPACT #2: People that have weak vision can purchase eyeglasses to be able to see with a clear vision again.
EVIDENCE #2: A pair of eyeglasses with a person's right prescription can change the way they live. The impact a pair of eyeglasses can have on someone's life positively is major. With eyeglasses, you are able to see things more clearly that you couldn’t before like for example; if you are farsighted, you can see close objects clearly with glasses. This impact on a human life is positive and life changing because of the opportunity it gives for being able to see again with a perfect vision.
IMPACT #1: Companies manufacturing eyeglasses for those with weak vision benefit from this product.
EVIDENCE #1: Companies that manufacture these eyeglasses sell the products to higher brands to make their salary and profit like for example; Burberry, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Ray Bans, etc. The company Luxottica manufactures for many of the richest brands eye wear products. They make the eye wear products for the brands which the brands pay them a lot more than it costs to make the actual product.
