What we learned
An SEAC may make recommendations to the district school board or school authority respecting matters affecting the establishment, development, and delivery of special education programs and services for exceptional pupils of the board. Is provided with the opportunity to participate in the annual review of the board's Special Education Plan. Participates in the board's annual budget process as it relates to special education. Reviews the financial statements of the board as they relate to special education. School boards establish SEAC School boards provides an opportunity for the SEAC to be heard by a board School boards provide personnel and facilities for the proper functioning of the committee, including electronic means School boards give the SEAC members and their alternates information regarding their roles in the committee w/r/t spec. Ed. and ministry/board policies relating to spec. ed.
What we want to know
Who is this group? Is it made up of board members, teachers, psychologist, etc? When does the SEAC of my school board have their annual meetings? How can I advocate for my students in order for them to receive the supports they need? Would the SEAC support this? How do they allocate funding?
What we know
that certain processes need to be followed in order for students to get the funding they requires, but that is the extent of my knowledge. I don’t know exactly how the funds are allocated and how the SEAC works.

Faculties Amount
Funding for education for children in institutionalized care (e.g., hospitals, children’s mental health centres, psychiatric institutions, detention and correctional facilities, community group homes, and social services agencies)
Special Incidence Portion
Funding for Special Education Support Persons (e.g., Educational Assistants)
Special Equipment Amount
Funding for Special Education equipment (Chromebook, headphones, wiggy chair, seat cushion, chewelry.
High Needs Amount
A variable amount based on the proportion of each board's population of students with special education needs
Special Education Per Pupil Amount
First layer provided. Determined by how many students are enrolled in the board Allocation recognizes the cost of providing additional assistance to the majority of students with special education needs
Special Education Grant
Provides additional funding for students who need special programs, services and equipment
Foundation Grant
Gives every school board a basic level of funding for each student
