Type in your name.

Being a captain in a sport he loves does not mean he will act the same way in classes.

Of course you are going to be more invested in a hobby or sport that you love to do. You will be more motivated to be the best and to invest everything you can.
Although the coach says he deserves a E in my classes I teach, as he has seen your son in his area of coaching, He has a different perspective on your son. For him he gets to see your son in his element, in which he is motivated and excited to be there. Not everyone acts the same in every environment
Although their son is exceptional in sports and takes on a leadership role these skills are not as prominent in the classroom.
Not to say that his learning in the classroom is poor, I have seen the ability he can achieve in areas such as sports, and I know he can improve on these learning skills in a different area of his life.

Your sons grade is in no way a reflection on your parenting

I understand that learning skills are important to all parents and students, but the grades being given on these learning skills is to not insinuate that people are bad parents or bad students. instead I want parents to be aware of students current abilities and the possible ways they can improve on their current skills

My way of evaluation

If I am missing skills, I have specific charts to target specific skills that I am missing for specific students
Asking for self-evaluation of their own learning skills on many group work assignments and at the end of each marking period
Having an assessment chart for all my students, to be able to evaluate throughout all classes
