If changes need to be made, make sure to look at all date points in and during your lesson. Was it the content, materials, or presentation that needs to have changes made to it? Also, continually reflect on daily and unit lessons, you can always improve to help more students be successful.
As a teacher, you are constantly re-evaluating yourself and the lessons you teach. If most students are not grasping a topic, how can you change your methods to meet the needs of your students. If only a couple students are not getting it, in what way can you make sure they can grasp the topic, can you teach it a different way in a small group? NEVER stop self-evaluating!!!
Can the students prove the learning objective true? This can be shown through both formal and informal assessments built around the learning objective.
Authentic assessment- make sure the assessment is authentic, such as performance based evaluation.
Giving students the opportunities to communicate, allows them to express schema to other students but also gives students a role in their own learning!
When a teacher allows a student to research or to dive deeper into a topic and show representation of what they their learned in their own why, students make more concrete knowledge of the topic covering.
When learning you must allow students time for practice but also giving feedback along the way to correct errors or missteps. This also allows educators to acknowledge how and when students master a concept in their learning journey.
Much like the other topic, you have to make sure each and every lesson is well planned and thought out. In doing so making sure all materials and items are prepared for a lesson ahead of time. For example, if you are teaching a math lesson and maniputlatives are needed. Have them counted out and sorted for each student ahead of time, not to waste class time doing so. If you are using technology, double check to make sure all devices, links, etc. are working appropriately and also have a plan B.
Prepare the Environment
When preparing your environment for the lesson, making sure it is organized and clean to also show a positive learning model for your students. If a learning area is cluttered or messy, it can cause extra stress and or distraction for your students.
When students are motivated to learn, they preform better. If the student is constantly thinking they are a failure or the material is to hard students struggle and tend to give up. Teachers must create lessons that not only engage all students but also motivate them and allow them to know how smart each and every student is.
Selecting Resources-MAKE SURE YOU ARE PREPARED!
Technology and Media- Try using the selection Rubric:
Selecting, Modifying, or Designing Materials:
*Selecting available materials-- making sure you have them prepared and ready for use in the classroom.
*When modifying to meet the needs of the students, making sure the end result is not changed but how they got there could be.
* When making your own materials make sure that you have all the necessary items but is also student friendly when completed.
Each student might and probably will not learn the same way you did. Be aware of what that might look like for your learners
