Digital Citizenship

Navigating the digital world requires careful attention to privacy, professionalism, and ethical behavior. Once information is shared online, it becomes permanent and accessible, even if deleted, making it crucial to avoid posting personal details.

Private information

it will not go away once it's online
don't share your friends' information either
keep your own information to yourself
predators can possibly find you and hurt you with this information
it's called private for a reason

No trolling

A good digital citizen is someone who keeps all important information private, is courteous to others, and uses common sense.

find a hobby
nobody will like you if you troll
the people who are angry with you will want to harm you
people will get angry with you
purposely making people angry isn't okay

Write like it counts

you will look better in the eyes of potential employers if you appear somewhat intelligent
be professional when interacting with a professor or employer
don't abbreviate words, like "omg" and "lol"
use correct grammar and punctuation at all times
employers will look down upon poor grammar

Gist

A good digital citizen is someone who keeps all important information private and utilizes general common sense to be safe.

Give credit where credit is due

plagairism is really only cheating yourself, cite your sources
don't let other people copy your work
protect your own work
professors can easily tell if you have copied
plagairism is illegal

Once it's out there, it's out there forever

this is why you need to be careful about what you say, expecially on social media
employers can and will check deleted history
this is why we don't put personal information on the internet
if you have your own website, even you delete that entire site, it can still be accessed
even if you delete your posts/information, it can still be found
