Impacts of Globalization

Globalization has a broad range of impacts, both positive and negative. One significant negative impact is unequal economic growth, which creates a large wage gap between countries.

Impacts of Globalization

Impacts of Globalization

(Positive) Lowering costs of products

Globalization brings with it access to more materials for commercial and production uses and thus products in turn cost less once they're on the market, or even as they stay on the market. The more access to the products materials there is, the cheaper the product will be. Think of the current situation with the inflation of gas prices, there's a scarcity of gasoline and thus the prices run up with the scarcity. The less of the materials for the product or the less accessible they are for one reason or another the more expensive they will be to the public.

(Positive) Allows global communication

Information is often spread using the internet. Globalization allows that to be brought into the hands of many in the world, and thus the internet is used as a reliable source of news and communication, even for those who are unaffected by the news. A prime and recent example of this is the death of the queen, those across the world knew about it very quickly, day of or even hour of the occurrence, but yet these people are completely unaffected by this.
While parents love to act as if all people in the internet are predators, most of the time it's used to make friends and even just as a simple method of communication, weather it be between classmates, colleagues, coworkers, or even with friends. Classmates can use them to send messages with each other, perhaps to remind the other about the due date and ask about the delay with their partners half, or perhaps it could be a coworker asking you to fill in because they can't make it. It's important for long distances to avoid long wait periods and even avoid instances in which one person is disadvantaged because of the slow communication process.

(Positive) Accessibility to materials

Globalization has gradually given more access to many otherwise unattainable items worldwide, and because of that we have the foods we do today. it even affects commute. For example, Cars, while most are built here, they also need products and parts from countries outside of Canada. As well as that, many of our diets would be entirely different due to Canadian soil being unable grow much of the produce we know and love today, and along with this there would be much information and technology kept to each countries own, and many countries would be left behind in knowledge and technological advances if it weren't to globalization.
Canada takes up 70% of the U.S.As agricultural exports, and this is inclusive of items such as pet food, baked goods, wines, cereals and pastas, and much more of the like.

(Negative) Unequal Economic Growth

Unequal economic growth impacts globalization because there is increased wage gap since the need for labour is increased in countries such as China because most of the world's manufacturers exist there. Many people within China have to work minimum wage jobs at these factories. In other countries such as USA there is less of a need for these jobs which causes there to be large wage gaps on a global scale.
Average annual salary per person is much higher in western countries such as America and Canada in comparison to eastern countries such as Morocco

(Negative) Cultural loss

Cultural loss is a negative effect of globalization because many local cultures around the world are being lost. Many places lose their traditions and identities at the cost of globalization. Unique Culture loss is a huge negative effect of globalization.
When international airports are created, the local residents lose their jobs. Native languages and cultures are lost.

(Negative) Pollution created by transport of goods

The primary source of greenhouse gas emissions in America is transportation.
Subtopic
Pollution is increased by globalization because of the transportation of goods. Transportation around the world has been increased as the world becomes more modern and more trade occurs between countries. CO2 emissions are a big problem that we are approached with today.
