People with a growth mindset learn differently than those with a fixed mindset because they are open to learning.
If they aren't getting the material right away they will work harder to understand it.
They don't let their failure hold them back they use it as a learning experience.
They will use their resources
They will ask questions and for help
people with a fixed mindset learn differently then those with a growth mindset. If they don't already know it they will tell themselves they are dumb.
When they aren't getting the material they will rather avoid the subject and work then to take time to learn.
They will intentionally fail so that they avoid the embarrassment of failing, by failing on their own terms.
They won't try
They will avoid learning, the class, etc
When someone with a growth mindset experiences failure they use it as a learning opportunity and not let it define them.
If A person with a growth mindset is in a situation where they could be at risk of failure or making a mistake they don't let it affect them or make them not participate
If they mess up they keep trying
They use their tools to help them
They work with the people around them
They ask for help
If a person with a growth mindset fails at something, ex: a test, they use it to help them learn from their mistakes
They use it to study to do better in the future
They compare to their other work
They ask questions on where they went wrong
When someone with a fixed mindset experiences failure they believe their failure defines them. They are humiliated and it is all they think about. The failure consumes them.
If a person with a fixed mindset can't get out of a situation where they would be venerable, or risk failing and humiliating themselves they learn how to get around it.
They come up with excuses on why they aren't able to do something.
They make fun of themselves before anyone else can.
They try to surround themselves with people who they believe are to be worse at something than themselves, so that they won't be as humiliated.
Since someone with a fixed Mindset takes failure so seriously they learn to only do things in their skill set.
They keep themselves out of situations where they could be vulnerable
They don't ask questions
They don't try new things
Main Point: The Growth Mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things that can be cultivated through efforts
People with a Growth Mindset believe that ability can be cultivated through one's effort.
Cultivate~ Developing a skill, intelligence, etc, from practice and effort.
Ability~ A person's talent or skill in a certain area
Babies are a example of a being that cultivate to grow their ability
Babies learn to walk, they fall down, they get up and keep trying until they can walk
Main Point: The belief that one's abilities are fixed and can not be changed
People with a fixed mindset believe that they are born with or without certain abilities
Human ability and qualities are carved in stone
Some people are born with intelligence and others are born dumb
