Structural Functionalists

Functionalism focuses on social stability and agreed public values and highlights the consensus and order that exists in society. Disorganization in the system, such as deviant behaviour, leads to change, according to this perspective, because society components must adjust to achieve stability. When one portion of the system breaks down, it affects the rest of the system, causing social difficulties and resulting in societal change.
