Why Singapore fell to the Japanese

The fall of Singapore to the Japanese can be attributed to a combination of Japanese strengths and British weaknesses. Japanese troops had lighter, jungle-suitable gear, whereas the British soldiers were encumbered by heavy equipment that proved a liability in the Malayan terrain.
