Both workouts use deltoids

The Weight Room Unit and the Fitness room unit share many similarities.

With weight room, I was able to track my performance throughout the course and my progress building on muscles such as my:

Core and Muscle Endurance
Core and muscle endurance test requires, works on, and improves fields in all of these areas. The core and muscle endurance tests help you work on your chest and triceps, biceps and back, and legs and shoulders.

Classroom Behavior

Initiative / Equipment
When class is over, I don’t need to be asked twice, sometimes not even at all, to put away the equipment. When we play any games involving any sort of net, I disassemble the nets and put them away in the storage room. When class ends, I don’t take another shot of the soccer or basketball, I put them away. I think this is demonstrating good safety with the equipment and my classmates.
Inclusivity
During the class I tried to be as inclusive as possible, by allowing people join me during warmups or my team during games. I did not care about having the “best team” or having the “worst team.” In events where I was put in a fixed team, I would not complain or get angry at a teammate for making a flaw, because I expect the same amount of respect on the receiving end.
Safety
Although not as many times as I would have liked, I come most classes changed and prepared for sport. I make sure to the best of my ability come to class with the proper pants, shirts, and footwear. I don’t do anything to purposely harm my classmates, like stick a leg out to trip them or anything. I value the safety of my classmates which is also a reason why I listen when I’m given instructions to a new game, and when I am instructed to take more precautionary actions such as putting on goggles during badminton.
Sportsmanship
I feel as though during games I express sportsmanship very well. I never cheat during games, I stay respectful (other than the bits of trash talk here and there) and I always end the period happy over the game I just played and I take no part in feuds, meaning I don’t take any class feuds with me to the change room or outside class.

Lessons I've learned from PPL20M and what I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life

Healthy Relationships
What different words concerning relationships mean

dating violence.

date rape

Sexual Coercion

Sexual Harassment

Manipulation

Platonic friendship

Drug "awareness"
Marijuana Issue analysis
Drugs in social media

We did a little "research paper" on drugs in social media, how they're portrayed and seen. We decided to look at songs, and how most songs glorify the use of drugs, some even glorifying the overdose of drugs. I chose a song called mr brownstone by guns n roses that actually steers away from drugs, and tells a story about how drugs ruined a mans life.

Drug Abuse
The impact drugs have on us and other people
All the different types of drugs (depressants, hallucinogens, stimulants, etc).
Watched documentaries on drug abuse and its effects, what victims look / act like
Healthy Living
Healthy food rationing

While you were gone we watched a documentary on eating a good diet and portion controlling

Healthy Exercise
Healthy Dieting

Did a research paper on the Keto diet

Building and Maintaining a healthy lifestyle

Nutrition
Keeping a healthy diet is a key factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Although exercise could assist in burning the unwanted fats you want from some of the foods you eat, if you just pile up on junk foods and empty calories (foods that are high in calories but give you no protein ; no energy) then it puts all the exercise to waste, a poor diet could lead to many serious health issues both mental and physical. To try and stay educated on the world of nutrition, I did a research paper in class on the Keto diet, a diet that states that you should be eating high fat, adequate protein and low carb foods. That is one way I have studied and shown my understanding of nutrition in this course.
Fitness Testing
Fitness testing was just like the weight room unit. I kept a sheet to keep track of what I’ve done, and by the time of each testing, I have (ideally) gotten better and topped my score each time, which is a good way to challenge myself and set new bars and goals for myself to achieve.

With Fitness, I was able to track my performance throughout the course and my progress building endurance in different physical fields such as:

Core Endurance

Shoulder Taps

Plank

Agility Test

Dot Drill

T Test

Musculoskeletal

Grip Strength

Vertical Jump

Sit & Reach

Push Ups

Cardiorespitory

5 Minute run

Beep test

Warming Up Before Games
Sometimes before we started games in class, we did various warm up exercises to get ready. I learned the importance of warming up before exercise on various different soccer teams. Warming up is crucial before intense exercise because it slowly increases the heart rate, which gets the blood pumping and circulation running, and loosens up muscles so there is less risk for a pull of a muscle. During this course we did warm ups like stretches, jogs, runs, and small cardio activities to keep the blood pumping. To add a more “fun” twist to warmups, we started playing games instead, like octopus, otter, octopus with balls, tag, etc. I think this was a nice way to keep us physically active before we start with the real event.

Light Running

Stretches

Leg Stretches

Arm Stretches

Octopus

Rock Paper Scissors Tag

Weight Room Unit
I was very pleased with my progress and what I’ve done in the weight room. In the weight room, I was given different tasks to focus on different regions of my body, so that I could build muscle in those areas. I think having different stations to focus and help certain parts of my body is a very good thing to do. Also in the weight room, I followed a sheet given to me by my teacher to record my sets and keep a note of what I have done. I think this is an absolutely brilliant thing to do. Having a sheet to track what I’ve accomplished in the weight room is something I’ve always overlooked, but I am extremely thankful that I had some time to reflect and now finally see how amazing it really is. Thanks to the sheet, I could track my progress in the weight room, and everything was organized.

Sports

Badminton
Badminton was another really fun sport played in class, doubles and singles alike were a really fun competition and both just keeping the birdy up and hitting it hard to try and get a point was equally fun.
Volleyball
Volleyball is without question the most fun sport we’ve played in class. It was super fun, co-operative, and I’m pretty good at it. Having the pakmen come over to demonstrate was an interesting, and at first it seemed kind of like baby-ish, having to catch the ball seemed like an extra step, but for those who were just beginning to play volleyball started to use it to their advantage a lot and it started to make them have a bit of an edge and become better volleyball players and seeing them develop and start catching the ball less and less to the point where they stopped using the handicap was a very cool thing to see indeed.
Baseball
In all honesty, baseball wasn’t the most fun sport for me at first. I had trouble hitting and catching the ball, but I remember my first “solid” hit was a fun feeling, as was running and making it home to secure a point. Definitely a sport I wouldn’t mind playing twice.
Lacrosse
Lacrosse was really fun, it’s really action packed and it was one of those games where I was just really determined to get the ball, so I was always looking for it and fighting for it, because it was a really satisfying feeling getting goals.
Basketball
I am not as good at basketball as say soccer, but playing in the basketball unit was pretty fun. I watched others around me play, and actually learned a lot. By watching the forms of other players, I actually managed to learn how to lay up and free throw and shoot threes way better than I did at the beginning of the year. Basketball is a sport I look forward to practicing in the summer, and maybe I can start using my height to my advantage.
Football
This class was my first ever football experience. Although I had a fractured arm for most of the time playing football, when I didn’t, It was really fun exploring all the different roles and how each one is just as important as the next when it comes to securing or blocking a point.
Tchoukball
played Tchoukball with mr shody in grade 9 and I remember kind of enjoying it then, but it was really fun playing it in class. When I got home I searched up tchoukball just to see if there were any influencer type people playing it, as I thought it was just a friendly for fun sport, but seeing the results come up with actual tchoukball teams playing was at first a funny concept to me, but I remember seeing players diving and doing tricks with the ball and thinking “these players have a lot of skill and this looks like an extremely fun sport to watch or play when done correctly.” I’m even thinking about playing it in the summer to practice my goalkeeper diving skills.
Handball
Handball is a sport that I have played maybe a couple times before this course. This being the case, it was a fairly new sport for me. When playing it, I was kind of able to make the connection in similarities with soccer and handball. I think this is why handball was such a fun sport for me to explore as a unit. The rules were there to make sure that the game was fair but they weren’t restricting, and the ability to do different moves to try and score in the key added such a new creative aspect to the game, and the twists made with the game (pads) just made it so much more competitive, hands down my favourite sport I’ve participated in.
Soccer
I’ve been playing soccer all my life. Ever since I was a kid, I remember my parents putting me into soccer programs and my brother basketball. Soccer is an extremely fun sport for me, so when the chance arises for me to play soccer in gym class, I try to take advantage of and enjoy it as much as possible. It is a sport I am familiar with.
