Students will engage in a comprehensive study of English and Italian sonnets, aiming to develop their expository and informational writing skills. The curriculum includes constructing and differentiating between the two sonnet forms, with an emphasis on correct recitation.

The English & Italian Sonnet 12.7The student will develop expository and informational writings. Write their own English or Italian Sonnet Learning Objectives Psychmotor: while the student is reading his/her sonnet the class should tap the correct rythm Cognitive:Start with Nursery rhymes for the student to clap out and find rhythm Affective: Have the students bring in lyrics to their favorite songs(with restraints) as long as they can find the beat/rhythm Standards of learning to be Covered 12.7 a-g TSW develop expository and informational writings 12. 5 b-d TSW read and critique a variety of poetry 12.1 a,b,c,e TSW make a 5 to 10 minute formal oral presentation Overall Goals Students should be able to recite either style of poem correctly Students should be able to construct one of each style of poem Students should be able to differentiate between an English and Italian Sonnet
