Consequence of Conquest

Colonial expansion has brought about significant changes in various aspects of society. Demographically, the introduction of diseases such as smallpox led to a dramatic decrease in population rates.

Cultural Effects

Migration/expansion of other cultures also provided for different religions to become known in Canada, such as Christianity. During French colonization, Christianity became a practice for many in Canada in the 17th century and is still prominent in today's World.
After The Seven Years War and The War of 1812 Indigenous groups were greatly affected through the forced control over and expansion. Causing groups to loose their rights to their traditions, language and land.

Environmental Effects

Higher spikes of temperatures were also recorded due to large groups of people and gunfire.
When Britain migrated to territories of the Indigenous Peoples, they began farming large amounts of crops. Causing the clearing of patches of forrest, destroying natural ecosystems and affecting the environmental system both short term and long term.

Changes in demographics

As a result of colonial expansion , there has been a long term change in demographics. A great example of this is the small-pox epidemic, which caused a decrease in population rates.

Rebellions

A short term, unintended consequence would be the resistance, typically after political changes are imposed (not always). During colonial expansion there was resistance and anger toward the changes forced upon communities.

Political changes/Changes of government

This consequence has affected the indigenous communities greatly. After The Seven Years War they experienced a loss of allies with the French and political changes as Britain gained more control over territories in Canada, including their own.
Additionally, the Britain's victory paved the way for Britain settlers to continue to migrate to different provinces in Canada. Causing long term change in terms of population demographics and ultimately, changes in government.
A consequence of conquest most historically prominent are political changes in society. As an intended consequence, an example of this is when The Quebec Act caused a change in Quebec boundaries, changing government control for multiple communities.
