Geography

Africa, located south of Europe and southwest of Asia, is a continent characterized by its vast and varied physical features. It is connected to Asia by the Isthmus of Suez, which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea, while the Strait of Gibraltar separates it from Europe and links the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.

Vast - United States, Europe, India and Japan could fit and still there would be empty space left.
Area - 30 million sq. km.
Second largest continent.
The North - 37 Degrees and the South - 35 Degrees.
Africa is the most tropical of all continents.
As a greater of the continent lies tropical zone.
The equator, the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn crosses Africa.
The Indian Ocean - East and the Atlantic Ocean - West.
Isthmus - Narrow arm of land linking two landmasses and separating two seas.
The Isthmus of Suez links Africa and Asia and separates the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.
Strait - Narrow arm of seas separating two landmasses and links two seas.
The Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb separates Africa from Arabia and links the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
The Strait of Gibraltar separates Africa from Europe and links the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.
