Gun Control Legislation/ School shootings in USA

Intersectionality

Somewhat applies, although it's not the focus of this conflict.
The March 4 Our Lives movement activists started as mostly just high school students.

Their circles vary from one place to another, as well as different individual students. The discrimination is mostly based on age and status, but it's definitely doesn't stop there.

Humanism

Applies (to one side)
All sides have free will.

The NRA and gun right activists think more about material things than improving as a society. They're stuck in the self-esteem part on Maslow's pyramid.

The March 4 Our Lives movement and its activists is moving toward self actualization. They're fighting for a larger cause, trying t improve their society (despite feeling unsafe)

Cognitive

From seeing the attention other shooters get, a school shooter gets encourage to open fire.

The goal is most likely to get recolonized or it's an act of revenge.

Movements, like March 4 Our Live, are inspired by other protests. Protesters know what to do from historical or current movements.

The goal is to create positive change and to make schools safer.

Cultural Materialism

Guns are a big part of the USA's culture and economy.

They're considered a power supply that is necessary.

They have a big influence on who's in power, be it NRA or one of two people in a fight.

Feminism

The only thing that applies in this situation is how both genders are working on the issue to insure everyone's safety

Conflict

Applies
Mirrors the conflict between the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat.
There's a power imbalance, with one side having more financial support. Although, the odds are evening out.
One side is demanding change due to injustice they're experiencing.

Structural Functionalist

Doesn't apply
When an individual has power, it affects the way societies are supposed function.
Since guns are a problem, they're going to create social change. Which disturbs the cycle of interdependence.
No trust means no mutual dependency.
There is an imbalance in power, therefore no equilibrium.
