Units of measurement can vary widely, encompassing both standard systems like English and Metric, as well as unconventional units. The Metric system is generally considered easier to use, though the U.

Finding an Unknown side to a right triangle?

To do this we must use the Pythagorean Theorem. The Pythagorean theorem is A squared + B squared = C Squared.

Odd Shapes

Volume of a cylinder= (Pie)(Radius)^2 X Hight
The only difference from the Volume of a cylinder and a right angle cone is that you multiple the cone by 1/3
Area of a circle = (Pie)(Radius)^2

What we are measuring?

Volume

Cube = Length x Width x Depth

Volume is when you measure the amount of space an object takes up. It is 3 dimentional. Another way to look at volume is to think of water and how much water and object can can hold. Volume will always have a measurement that is cubed.

Perimeter

Perimeter for a square = Length + Width + Length + Width

Perimeter is the distance around an object. In the looking at a square, the surface area is the distance of the line forming the 4 sides.

Area
Formulas

Area of a square = Length x Width

Definition

When talking about a 2 dimentional square, the area is the space within the the square, it is simply the length times the width. Your measurments will always be squared.

Units of Measurement

Even though there may not be a specific unit of measurement such as inches or meters. We are supposed to use Units. Units can be anything you are using to measure whether its using Quarters to something like notebook paper.
There are several diferent units of measurements. They can be English or Metric. To me the Metric system is way easier to use but in the U.S. we tend to only use English units like Inches, feet, and yards.
