Range

Questions

This is a great game to see how much you have learned! It will ask several questions regarding mean, median, mode and range.

What is Range?

Range is the difference between the highest and lowest values of a set.

Example: 89, 73, 84, 91, 87, 77, 94

1.) Rearrange the orders from least to greatest. 73, 77, 84, 87, 89, 91, 94

2.) Find the greatest value= 94
3.) Find the lowest value= 73

4.) Subtract 94-73= 21

The range equals 21.

Median

Building height

This is another fun game for students. It helps students understand median by re-arranging the buildings by the different heights.

What is Median?

Median is the middle number.

Example: 12, 3 and 5

1.) Rearrange the numbers from smallest to largest. 3,5,12

2.) Find the middle number by crossing of the numbers one by one on each side. 3/,5,/12

The median is 5 because it is the middle number.

What happens if there is 2 numbers in the middle?

Example:

1.) 3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23, 23, 23, 23, 29, 40, 56

2.) 3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23, 23, 23, 23, 29, 40, 56

3.) 21 + 23 = 44.... 44 ÷ 2 = 22

The median is then 22.
